Jeffrey A. Young, O.D.
Dr. Jeffrey A. Young has been practicing optometry for 15 years. Originally from Illinois, he graduated with a B.S. in Zoology from Eastern Illinois University in 1986. In 1990, he received his optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Since then, he has practiced in a variety of clinical settings throughout Illinois and Texas, and decided to relocate to the Bellingham area in 2004. He is an active member of both the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Physicians of Washington.
In addition to being licensed to practice optometry in the states of Washington and Texas, Dr. Young has also completed additional training and education in an effort to broaden the scope of care he is able to provide to his patients. In May 2005, he completed the Advanced Ocular Therapeutics Course sponsored by the Optometric Physicians of Washington; in October 2001, he received certification as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist through the Texas Optometry Board; in February 1996, at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, he completed Post Doctoral Training in the area of Medical Treatment and Management of Eye Disease; and he received his certification from the International Association of Boards of Examiners in Optometry for the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease, Clinical Skills, and Jurisprudence Exam in August 1991.
In his spare time, Dr. Young swims with the Bellingham Masters Swim Club at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center. Additionally, he incorporates routine workouts at the local fitness center with the occasional bike ride. He also enjoys scuba diving, camping, and photography.
